Julie Houck – Landscape Painting in Southern France
Enjoy two weeks of plein air painting in the Languedoc region of southern France. We will be based at Montfaucon, a 13th century maison d'maitre in the historic town of Limoux, on the River Aude. Come enjoy painting in picturesque villages, vineyards and colorful markets. Experience the charm of Collioure as we follow in the footsteps of Derain, Matisse, Monet and the Fauves. This workshop with award-winning artist Kenn Backahus will focus on the theory of dynamic composition in plein air painting. Lecture and demonstrations will help you develop strong compositional statements and learn to edit while on location. Kenn will discuss mood versus detail in paintings through the application of value and edge control.
