Jean Stern’s Well-Deserved Honor

Mr. Jean Stern, the Executive Director of The Irvine Museum Collection at UCI Executive Director and LPAPA’s Artistic Advisor to the Board of Directors, recently received a significant award that honors his lifelong work in the visual arts. On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, Mr. Stern received the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters during a grand ceremony. The award was presented by the French Consul General Christophe Lemoine. Each month LPAPA presents a new juried art exhibition at its “LPAPA in Residence” gallery located at the Forest & Ocean Gallery in the heart of the Laguna Beach art district. The gallery creates opportunities for our artist members from across the country to show their work in our thriving art colony, and it provides LPAPA with the opportunity for our nonprofit art organization to connect with our community, supporters and art lovers. LPAPA’s mission is dedicated to promoting and preserving the plein air painting tradition and Laguna’s artistic legacy established by plein air artists more than 100 years ago.

“California, The Golden State” is a juried exhibition of 60 original paintings by Signature and Artist Members of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association celebrating the beauty and diversity of the California landscapes.

Proceeds from the sale of artwork benefit the artists, nonprofit CAP, and nonprofit Laguna Plein Air Painters Association’s mission to promote and preserve Laguna’s art colony legacy, established by early plein air artists 100+ years ago, and the plein air painting tradition.
