FUN-raiser: Miniature Auction & Dinner Party, June 13th

January 1, 2018 by Toni Kellenberg

Laguna Plein Air Miniature AuctionThe Laguna Plein Air Painter Association invites you to join us on Thursday June 13th (5-9pm) at [seven-degrees] in Laguna Beach for LPAPA’s 5th Annual “Dinner Party & Miniature Auction FUN-raiser”. This special evening has become an annual plein air art collector’s favorite!

Due to the collectors’ enthusiasm to see the artwork, we’re opening the doors early at 5:00 pm with passed hors d’oeuvres, wine and no-host bar.

Guests will enjoy a selection of wines with a sumptuous gourmet buffet specially prepared by the [seven-degrees] culinary experts. No-host cocktail selections will also be available.

LPAPA’s annual patron dinner party is inspired by Laguna’s artistic legacy. Early plein air artists — Edgar Payne, Anna Hills, William Wendt, and others — founded the first Laguna Art Association and hosted dinner parties and presented miniature paintings for their art patrons to help raise the funds needed to open the first art gallery in Laguna Beach in 1918. The funds raised help to support LPAPA’s its mission to preserve Laguna’s artistic legacy and continue the plein air painting tradition.

Our special guest, Mr. Jean Stern, Director of The Irvine Museum Collection at The UCI Institute and Museum for California Art, will indulge us with fascinating tidbits of Laguna’s artistic legacy and share the history of a special miniature masterpiece from his private collection by fine artist, educator and early California Art Club President, E. Roscoe Shrader (1878 – 1960).
.
LPAPA will bring Laguna’s plein air painting past into the present with a lively live and silent auction of framed miniature original paintings generously donated by some of your favorite Laguna Plein Air Invitational Artists to support LPAPA: Cindy Baron, Bill Davidson, Rick J. Delanty, Jennifer Diehl, Paul Kratter, Daniel Marshall, David Marty, Jim McVicker, Michael Obermeyer, Camille Przewodek, Michael Situ, Michele Usibelli, Jove Wang, and more! *
.
LPAPA’s FUNdraiser celebrates the legacy that helped established Laguna Beach as an artists’ colony. Now famous early plein air artists — William Wendt, Edgar Payne, Frank Cuprien, Anna Hills and others — founded the first Laguna Beach Art Association, and opened the first Laguna Beach art gallery, in 1918. To raise the money needed to open the gallery and support the association, the artists hosted art parties and painted special miniatures for their patrons.
.
LPAPA has resurrected this tradition to further its Mission and support its Education and Invitational Programs. LPAPA’s mission honors more than 100 years of plein air painting history and tradition in Laguna! This is your exclusive opportunity to add a little gem of a miniature to your art collection and help LPAPA preserve Laguna’s plein air painting legacy of the past, present and future!
.
Celebrate the Legacy, Be part of the Tradition!
