LPAPA LOCA Paint Along

Join LPAPA Signature Artist Anthony Salvo for a fun and informative LPAPA+LOCA Mentor Paint Along at Crescent Bay Point Park in Laguna Beach. Artists of all painting experience levels and painting mediums are invited to paint en plein air and receive feedback from Anthony to help artists at all levels improve their skills and take their painting to the next level. Come to watch Anthony’s painting demonstration,  set up your outdoor painting gear and join the fun (adults only please). Participants will receive a sketch book.

This paint out is a free paint out event supported by a grant funding through the City of Laguna Beach and local lodging establishments, and an art education collaboration with LOCA Arts Education and the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA). All adult artists, members and non-members, are invited to come outdoors and paint with us!

Tuition: Free! No registration required!
Date: Monday March 11, 2019
Time: 9:00am to 11:30am

LPAPA Signature Artist Clark Mitchell

Join LPAPA Signature Artist Clark Mitchell at the Whitewater Nature Preserve near Palm Springs, California, for a LPAPA Mentor Painting Demonstration & Paint Out on Saturday March 2nd, 9:00am – 12:00pm (meet-up location details to be provided with registration confirmation). Clark will be doing a painting demonstration using pastels, however, all mediums are welcome. Come paint the desert wildflowers with a rugged wilderness backdrop. The Whitewater Nature Preserve offers year-round rocky creek, trout farm, plenty of shade trees, restrooms, views down into the Coachella Valley and up to San Gorgonio Wilderness Area. Very picturesque rugged scenery! After the painting demonstration, Clark will provide critiques, and encourage you to set up and paint!

LPAPA’s mentored painting sessions are free for LPAPA Members. Non-Members are invited to join us for a $20 registration fee. Paid event fees are not refundable but may be transferred with advance notice.

LPAPA mentor paint outs are presented in connection with LPAPA’s mission and commitment to its art education programs.

Larry Cannon's A Moment in Time, Malibu

LPAPA Signature Artist Larry Cannon was awarded Outstanding Watercolor in the March 2018 BoldBrush Painting Competition for “A Moment in Time: Malibu” (16×20 watercolor). LPAPA Artist Member Ellen Howard shares how she got out of her comfort zone and improved her art while taking a workshop in Boca de Tomatlan, Mexico to study with LPAPA Signature Artist Member Jim McVicker and challenge herself to paint new subject matter and scenery. Robin Purcell: National Recognition

LPAPA Signature Artist Robin Purcell’s landscape paintings have been selected recently by four prestigious art organization’s juried exhibits. She shares “I am inspired by mountains and hills of very size. Looking up to a summit or down and across our beautiful bay lifts my spirit. Ever changing light, color and shapes present a constant challenge and make me grow as an artist. I feel lucky to live near the open spaces of Mount Diablo State Park.” — Robin Purcell

Just Below Fallbrook_Robin Purcell

The Annual Signature American Watermedia Exhibit in Fallbrook runs February 3rd to April 15th, 2018, and “Just Below Junction” painted on Mount Diablo was selected.

Robin Purcell_Blue Ridge

The California Watercolor Society’s Annual National Exhibit includes “Blue Ridge” painted on North Gate, Mount Diablo; the exhibit is at the Marin Society of Artists through January 31st.

Peak Near the Eiger by LPAPA Signature Artist Robin Purcell

The American Impressionist Society National Small Works showcase takes place at the Greenhouse Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 23 – April 21, 2018, and includes “Peak Near the Eiger”.

Robin describes The American Watercolor Society International Exhibit as the most important watercolor exhibit in the world and will be on exhibit at the Salmagundi Club in New York, April 4-28, 2018, and will include her Mount Diablo painting “Curry Point November”.
