2024 Hotel Laguna Painting Competition Award Winners

Hotel Laguna LPAPA Painting Competition 2024 Finalist CollageLPAPA artists participated in the 2nd Annual Hotel Laguna Painting Competition sponsored by the Hotel Laguna! From the Artist’s submissions, the top 8 scoring finalists were juried to be judged for Awards and exhibited for sale at the Hotel Laguna on October 3rd for Art Start for First Thursday Art Walk in the Rose Garden plaza! Everyone was invited to join LPAPA at the Hotel Laguna for a fabulous Art Start reception with free entry 5-6 pm!

In addition to the exhibition of the LPAPA Awards Finalists, guests enjoyed a performance by the Laguna Dance Festival during Art Walk.

The LPAPA Gallery is open with extended hours to 9PM for the First Thursday Art Walk of each month, so plan to visit us!

August 2024 Artist Member of the Month: Kirsten Anderson of Long Beach, California

“Raised in California, she has traveled with her palette and sketchbook on 6 continents and her paintings are a personal diary of her travels. “I have a wanderlust spirit  that fits perfectly with an outdoor painter.”  Kirsten ‘s favorite subjects are found along the coast, on the water, or in the water. “Sunlit figures, the ocean, the beach are especially inspiring. I love the sun hitting bodies—it’s like painting nudes, but with bikinis.  And I like to paint boats.”  Painting is an endless pursuit that touches my soul.  My painting process always involves observing nature, providing me a stepping off point between realism, naturalism and abstraction.  I prefer abstract areas and painterly textures and surprises in color palette and value.  I want my painting to be better than the photograph or scene I am attempting to portray.”

The Online Preview Auction of the Gallery finalists and City Hall semi-finalists will open at 80% of the full gllery price for the painting with $10 bid increments. The preview auction includes a “buy now” option at the full retail price. Unless other arrangements are made through LPAPA, paintings sold through the Auction and through the Gallery will be shipped or available for pick up after the gallery show ends. Unless other arrangements are made with LPAPA, paintings sold through the expanded City Hall and online show of semi-finalist paintings will be shipped by LPAPA at the end of the City Hall Show.
