LPAPA Signature Artist Charlie Hunter

LPAPA Signature Artist Charlie Hunter
Bellows Falls, Vermont
Hunter-Studio.com

Charlie Hunter lives in Vermont on the banks of the Connecticut River with his studio in an old paper mill. There, he likes to paint what nature does to what man creates. Of late Charlie has been painting primarily in monochrome, using COBRA raw umber. If feeling sporty, maybe he’ll blend in some ultramarine blue, viridian, yellow ochre, burnt sienna or unbleached titanium. Sometimes he’ll do some encaustic work.

Debra Huse has been blessed with the talent of seeing and the passion for painting. Oil is such a luscious medium. Applying lots of paint – moving it around and carving out areas is fascinating. As a contemporary plein air colorist, she strives to capture the beauty of the moment, the poetry of the atmosphere, and the notes of colorful light with the spontaneity and energy of a painter intrigued. Not painting is not an option for her. Debra is a LPAPA Emeritus Board Member.

Paul Kratter

by

LPAPA Signature Artist Paul Kratter
Moraga, California
PaulKratter.com

The first impression Paul Kratter captures is a strong composition.  He looks to simplify the scene by making bold, graphic shapes. The light and atmosphere are ever changing, and he wants to quickly establish a color script. One of the first things Paul determines is what is going to change the quickest. This is the key area to capture and determine the feel of the painting. Paul will usually finish his paintings on location, so he can keep the fresh spontaneous feel.

It is with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to LPAPA Signature Artist, Mentor, Teacher and Fried Greg LaRock who passed on October 11, 2020 after injuries sustained in a rollerblading accident (click to read LA Times “Beautiful Soul”).

Greg LaRock’s passion is to capture the outdoor landscape and its ever-changing light and beauty. The challenge of depicting the three-dimensional world onto canvas is a difficult pursuit, but when it all comes together, it is an extremely rewarding experience. He says, “When the gap between believability and painterly expression is merged, I’ve done my job”.
