The Annual LPAPA Signature Artist Membership fee is $175.00 per year. This level of membership is reserved and available only for the professional artists who have been juried into this level of distinction by LPAPA’s renowned authorities on Impressionism and Plein Air art. This level of professional designation entitles the member to be eligible to participate in all LPAPA member-only activities and exhibits as well as special events designed for Signature Artist Members only. Signature Members are committed to supporting LPAPA’s education and mentoring programs, and when funding is available, may receive compensation for their teaching time. Signature Members are eligible to participate as an Instructor in LPAPA’s Workshop programs. Signature Members are listed in the LPAPA website Signature Member Directory with an image of their work, a brief bio, and a link to their artist website. Signature Members may list their workshops on LPAPA’s website and share through LPAPA’s Facebook Group, as well as announce their art show exhibitions, awards, and published articles. Signature Artists are eligible to be featured as LPAPA’s Signature Member of the Month on LPAPA’s website and in LPAPA’s E-News.
“The designation of “Signature Artist” in any artists’ association is a recognition of high status, an acknowledgment by your peers that you are worthy of special distinction for your remarkable talent and capability in creating a work of art. It is a distinction that the majority of members of any art group do not have and in turn would love to receive. Your peers look to Signature Artists for inspiration and to set a high standard that they themselves strive to achieve.” — Mr. Jean Stern, Executive Director of The Irvine Museum Collection at the UCI Institute and Museum for California Art.
Becoming a LPAPA Signature Member is a juried process requiring the artist to submit examples of their plein air and studio work to be reviewed by a panel of 3 expert jurors. The artists are scored on their overall body of work submitted, with each juror giving a score between 1-5 with 5 being the highest, and the total combined maximum score of 15. Only the very highest scoring artists with a combined score of 12 or above have the opportunity to be advanced to Signature level membership. LPAPA has an annual open “Call for Signature Membership Submissions“.
