Calvin Liang was born in Canton, China. He completed his art education at the prestigious Shanghai Academy of Fine Art. While living in China, his skills as a fine artist were applied to the theatrical industry where he designed and created sets for operas and musical dramas. After moving to the US in 1987, Liang continued his profession in the visual arts for the entertainment industry in animation before pursuing a full time career as a fine artist. Liang shared the “Best in Show” with LPAPA Signature Artist Ray Roberts for the 2004 Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational. In 2016, Calvin received a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association during the 18th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational..
