“My work might best be described as realism bordering on impressionism. I try to paint a variety of different scenes that are a bit unexpected and still convey a pleasing sense of familiarity. It is often said that art is a “right brain” endeavor and yet I’ve always considered myself to be quite grounded in left brain thinking even as I paint. The physics of light and color in both daytime scenes and night scenes fascinates me and “understanding it” helps me to “see it” which then helps me to “paint it”. “
