LPAPA is pleased to present a 4-day “Figures on the Beach” Plein Air Painting Workshop with Jove Wang, Monday April 6th through Thursday April 9th, 2026.
Join Jove Wang, award-winning Master oil painter and LPAPA Signature Artist, for a plein air painting workshop designed to pursue Joaquin Sorolla’s artistic feeling for figures in seascapes. Jove will do painting demonstrations and walk you through his painting process for achieving unity of a painting with one and two figure combinations on the beach, and demonstrate how to present richness and beauty of color relationships for figures on a sunlit beach, and guide you on how to design exciting compositions for painting one and two figure combinations, as he provides individual feedback at your easel.
Class meets from 9am-4pm each day, with a 1-hour lunch break. All levels welcome, beginner to professional. This workshop includes painting on location, lectures, demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, and critiques. Jove will demonstrate his painting techniques and students have the opportunity to paint several studies in this intensive, 4-day class. Students must provide their own art supplies, meals, accommodations, parking fees, and transportation to and from painting sites. Maximum of 15 students, minimum of 10.

Dates: Monday April 6th thru Thursday April 9th, 2026
Times: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day with 1-hour lunch break
Locations: 2 days painting on location in Laguna Beach and 1 day painting on location in Dana Point, with last day at the LPAPA Gallery for Jove’s painting demonstration and critique of students work. Location details, as well as a recommended supply list, will be provided to registrants in advance.

*Note: You may advance register without pre-paying the tuition, however, the workshop tuition must be paid in full at least 60 days prior to the start of the workshop to secure your spot. If you need to cancel, a full refund, less LPAPA’s credit card transaction fees, will be issued if LPAPA receives your cancellation more than 60 days prior to the start of the class (on or before February 5, 2026). If you cancel within 60 days of the start of the class (on or after February 6, 2026, and no later than March 5, 2026), you will receive a refund of your tuition LESS a $100 cancellation fee UNLESS the class is full and someone on the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund less LPAPA’s credit card transaction fees. If you cancel within 4 weeks of the start date (on or after March 6, 2026), you forfeit your entire tuition UNLESS the class is full and someone from the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund less LPAPA’s credit card transaction fees.
