Register to join LPAPA Signature Artist Member Lisa Skelly for this fun and informative LPAPA+LOCA in-person Mentor Paint Together session on “Morning Waves in Laguna”. In this Mentor session Lisa will demonstrate her pastel painting process, stroke by stroke, of a wave along the Heisler Park shoreline in Laguna Beach.

Jove Wang: Laguna Plein Air Workshop, Nov 7 – 11

LPAPA is pleased to present a 5-day “Artist in Residence” plein air painting workshop in Laguna Beach with LPAPA Artist Jove Wang, an award-winning master oil painter, Monday November 7th through Friday November 11th, 2022.

Are you interested in learning, or improving, your outdoor painting skills? Need some inspiration to kick-start your artistic journey or take your artwork to the next level? Then this workshop is for you! Jove will walk you through his process for painting seascapes, beaches, canyons and mountains. This workshop is open to all skill levels, beginner to professional. A recommended supply list will be provided in advance. Students must provide their own outdoor painting equipment, art supplies, meals, and transportation to and from painting sites.

You can reserve your spot with a $600 deposit at the time of registration, with the balance due 30 days prior to the start of the workshop, by contacting LPAPA’s Executive Director at (949) 584-9162. If you need to cancel, a full refund will be issued if LPAPA receives your cancellation at least 90 days prior to the start of the class (on or before August 7, 2022). If you cancel within 90 days of the start of the class (on or after August 8, 2022, and no later than October 7, 2022), you will receive a refund of your tuition LESS a $100 cancellation fee UNLESS someone on the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within 4 weeks of the start date (on or after October 8, 2022), you forfeit your entire tuition UNLESS someone from the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund.

Gil Dellinger: Laguna Coast Paint Together Recording

LPAPA Signature Artist Gil Dellinger leads a fun and informative “Painting the Laguna Coast” Virtual Paint Together demonstrating his painting process from start to finish as he takes you on a virtual visit to one of his favorite places to paint — the Laguna coastline. Gil served as a Professor of Art at the University of the Pacific, teaching drawing and painting for more than 30 years. In this Paint Together session, Gil will demonstrate painting the coastal rock formations and surf from a gray background in order to control dramatic light, shadow, and value patterns. Photo reference and recommended supply list will be sent after registration.

This online live-stream lesson will be broadcast live on February 1, 2022. Attendees can choose to paint together with Gil or watch his demonstration and paint with the exclusive access lesson recording that will follow after the session. Suggested materials and photo references provided after registration.

Kathleen Dunphy: Laguna Plein Air Workshop, June 3 – 5, 2022

LPAPA is pleased to present a 3-day “Artist in Residence” plein air painting workshop in Laguna Beach with Signature Artist Kathleen Dunphy, Friday June 3rd through Sunday June 5th, 2022.

Frustrated with trying to catch the ever-changing light condition while painting outdoors? Always wanted to learn about plein air painting but have been afraid to try it? Need some inspiration to kick-start your work? This class is for you!

Join Kathleen Dunphy, award-winning oil painter and LPAPA Signature Artist, for an intensive workshop of painting landscapes on location. Kathleen will walk you through her process for creating dynamic, light-filled paintings.

Class meets from 9am-4pm each day. All levels welcome, beginner to professional. This workshop starts with a comprehensive lecture on the fundamentals of good painting and tips for plein air work. The workshop includes lectures, hand-outs, demonstrations, lots of one-on-one instruction, and painting on location at various sites on the picturesque coastline of Laguna Beach. Kathleen demonstrates her painting technique and students get the opportunity to paint several studies in this high-energy, 3-day class. Students must provide their own art supplies, meals, and transportation to and from painting sites. Maximum of 15 students, minimum of 10.
