Join us for a rare opportunity to study with the founding spirit of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. This 3-day, in-person workshop is designed for painters of all experience levels—from curious beginners to seasoned professionals looking to refine their craft.

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) in collaboration with Laguna Outreach for Community Arts (LOCA) is delighted to offer a Laguna Canyon En Plein Air Painting Demonstration with LPAPA Signature Artist Mason Williams in Laguna Beach, California, Friday, March 20th, 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed with a LPAPA Gallery Tour and Reception at 2:00 pm.

LPAPA & LOCA invite you to join Mason Williams for this fun and informative plein air painting learning experience as he demonstrates his plein air oil painting techniques while creating a Laguna Canyon landscape. After watching Mason’s demo, you are encouraged to paint on your own in beautiful Laguna and practice what you learned. This is a great opportunity to learn from an award-winning LPAPA Signature Artist, meet LPAPA & LOCA members, and enjoy being outdoors in the Laguna Beach plein air!

This painting demo is open to both LPAPA Members and LOCA Members, as well as Non-Members, at all experience levels (non-painters welcome too!). The Laguna Beach painting location and details will be provided with the registration confirmation email.

Dan Monloch: Online Watercolor Workshop, Jan 26 & 27

LPAPA Signature Artist Dan Mondloch 2-Day online workshop Register to join LPAPA Signature Artist Dan Mondloch for this creative and unique approach and fun filled 2-Part Online Watercolor Painting Workshop focused on “Expressive Landscapes in Watercolor Using the Damp Paper Method”, Monday January 26 and Tuesday January 27th, 10:00 am – 12:30 PDT. The live-streamed classes will include 2 sessions focused on exploring the freedom and creativity of watercolor through a unique approach. Registrants will receive exclusive unlimited access to both lesson recordings following the workshop.

In this step-by-step workshop, you’ll learn to wet the front and back of your paper for a longer “open time,” allowing you to blend colors, achieve soft edges, and create beautiful textures. Each day, we will simplify complex scenes into large shapes of value and color, building your confidence and skills to paint with expressive brushwork and bold color. With demonstrations and exercises, you’ll discover how to communicate through the visual language of painting while gaining satisfying and dynamic results. Students will be provided with photos and lesson recordings to use as reference to create their own paintings.

Dan is an award winning third-generation painter. His first interest in painting was in the 9th grade; while driving with his dad he mentioned he’d like to try painting. The next morning he woke to the kitchen table covered with everything he could ever possibly need to paint a picture.  He’s been featured in Plein Air Magazine, Watercolor Artist, and Southwest Art Magazine. Recent honors include the Jean Stern Legacy Award at Laguna Invitational and Best of show at Grand Marais Plein Air. He lives in Cold Spring, Minnesota.
