Laguna Plein Air Signature Artist Anthony Salvo
“Plein Air Painting is the catalyst that motivated me to paint again. For me, it’s meeting the challenge of the quick decision of color and brush stroke. Not to over-think, but to be deliberate, fresh and spontaneous in my approach. I want to convey that unspoken energy into every painting to tell my story.“

“Even at an early age I had a natural inclination for visual rendering. My favorite activity was to take my sketchpad and paints and head for the woods. I was fortunate to have a wilderness out my back door. I would spend hours there sketching and painting both small details from nature as well as large vistas.“

Laguna Plein Air Painters Association Signature Artist Patrick Saunders
“I believe that art is the act of creation. The result, whether it is a painting, sculpture, photograph etc., is simply a record of the creation experience. My approach is to free myself from preconceived visual beliefs and interpret the world directly before me. In so doing, I rediscover the colors, textures and values of everyday life that we otherwise take for granted. This is what drives me to paint and what I encourage in my students.
My art is the product of diligence in practice. I do not believe in talent. I believe that all of us have the potential to create art, if we choose to dedicate ourselves to the pursuit.”

“It is my intent to seize the viewer and hold their interest by allowing their own mind to explore the mystery, yet react to a sense of having known a sense of being there.“
