Mr. Jean Stern, the Executive Director of The Irvine Museum Collection at UCI Executive Director and LPAPA’s Artistic Advisor to the Board of Directors, recently received a significant award that honors his lifelong work in the visual arts. On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, Mr. Stern received the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters during a grand ceremony. The award was presented by the French Consul General Christophe Lemoine. Calvin Liang was born in Canton, China and studied at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. Prior to pursuing his passion for plein air painting, he had a successful career as an animator, including work with Disney and Nickelodeon. Calvin is a Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America and a Signature Member of the California Art Club. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational and the Bronze Medal at the National Juried Exhibition of Oil Painters of America.
The Calvin Liang collection will be featured at the Debra Huse Gallery through September 10th.

LPAPA Signature Artist Member Larry Cannon will have two paintings (Fall Vineyard and Headwaters) on exhibition in the prestigious Laumeister Fine Art Competition at The Bennington Center for the Arts (VT). The exhibition, juried by Calvin Liang, will be in place from July 29 until October 8, 2017.
