Please plan to join us for a special Bowers Museum Talk in the Norma Kershaw AuditoriumĀ on Sunday July 29th, 2018 1:30pm – 2:30pm, forĀ From Past to Present: The History of Plein Air with Mr. Jean Stern.Ā Mr. Stern is the Director of The University of California, Irvine Institute and Museum for California Art, and a leading expert in the California Impressionist period, he will discuss the history of plein air painting from past to present with references to specific pieces in theĀ California Bounty: Image and Identity, 1850-1930Ā exhibit. Before the Museum Talk, 10:00am – 12:00pm, plan to join LPAPA in the Key Courtyard at the Bowers MuseumĀ for a special event as Signature Artist Members of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) take over the Key Courtyard for a plein air paint out in support of the Bowers Museum’s California Bounty: Image and Identity, 1850-1930 exhibit! Watch, learn and engage with artists all over the courtyard as they create plein air masterpieces in two hours! The paintings will be available for purchase with proceeds supporting the artists, the Bowers Museum and nonprofit LPAPA! This is a free outdoor public event.
