In addition to the Less is More Juried Show, the LPAPA Gallery is proud to present a special “Artist in Residence” Showcase Exhibition featuring studio and plein air works created by Signature Artist Aimee Erickson, July 5 through July 29, 2024, who will be leading a 5-day plein air painting workshop.

The Online Preview Auction referenced above will open at 80% of the full retail price for the painting with $10 bid increments. The preview auction includes a “buy now” option at the full retail price. Unless other arrangements are made through LPAPA, paintings sold through the Auction and through the Gallery will be shipped or available for pick up after the gallery show ends. Paintings sold through the expanded online show of semi-finalist paintings will be shipped by the artist.

Proceeds generated through the sale of artwork benefit the participating artists and nonprofit Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA). LPAPA’s mission is dedicated to painting the landscape, preserving Laguna’s artistic legacy, and promoting the plein air painting tradition. LPAPA strives to enhance the livelihood of its artist members through education and opportunity, and inspire the next generation of plein air painters to continue the tradition!

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association in partnership with Mission Fine Art Gallery was delighted for the opportunity to bring the plein air painting experience to last month’s May 2023 Longines | FEI Jumping Nations Cup tm and showcase the past, present and future of plein air painting, California impressionism, and the San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Beach local arts and artists!

LPAPA is pleased to present a 2-Day “Signature Artist in Residence” Laguna Plein Air Painting Workshop with Peggi Kroll Roberts, Friday July 28th and Saturday July 29th, 2023.

Peggi Kroll Roberts WorkshopAlways wanted to learn to paint expressive figures in your landscapes? Want to improve your results while painting outdoors? Always wanted to learn about plein air painting but have been afraid to try it? Need some inspiration to kick-start your work? Then this class is for you!

Join Peggi Kroll Roberts, award-winning oil painter and LPAPA Signature Artist, for this outdoor painting workshop focused on painting figures in the landscape on location in Laguna Beach. Peggi will walk you through her process for creating exciting, expressive paintings.

Class meets from 9:30 am-4:30 pm each day. All levels welcome, beginner to professional. This workshop will include talks, demonstrations, lots of one-on-one instruction, and painting on location at outdoor Laguna locations. Peggi will demonstrate her painting technique and students will have the opportunity to paint plein air studies in this fun and informative 2-day class. Students must provide their own art supplies, meals, and transportation to and from painting sites. Maximum of 12 students, minimum of 8.

In addition to the workshop, the LPAPA Gallery is proud to present a special “Artist in Residence” Showcase Exhibition of available paintings, collages and ceramics by Peggi Kroll Roberts, July 6 – July 31, 2023.

Workshop Tuition*: $375 for LPAPA Members, $400 for Non-Members
Maximum: 12 students
Dates: Friday July 28 and Saturday July 29, 2023
Times: 9:30 am to 4:30 pm with a 1-hour lunch break each day
Locations: Painting locations, as well as a recommended supply list, to be provided to registrants in advance.

*Note: The workshop tuition must be paid in full to hold your spot. If you need to cancel, a full refund will be issued if LPAPA receives your cancellation more than 60 days prior to the start of the class (on or before May 27, 2023). If you cancel within 60 days of the start of the class (on or after May 28, 2023, and no later than June 27, 2023), you will receive a refund of your tuition LESS a $100 cancellation fee UNLESS someone on the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within 4 weeks of the start date (on or after June 28, 2023), you forfeit your entire tuition UNLESS someone from the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund.

The LPAPA gallery is pleased to present a special exhibition featuring LCAD Student Chase Heindel. Enjoy a preview of her work below and plan to join us for the First Thursday Art Walk Opening Reception, April 6th – 6 to 9 pm, to meet the artist and see a sampling of her available work through the LPAPA Gallery.
This special exhibition is presented in collaboration with the 22nd Annual Professional Gallery + Student Mentoring Program, a collaboration between First Thursdays Art Walk (FTAW) and Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD) that pairs senior students in the Fine Arts Professional Studies class with FTAW’s member galleries. The program is designed to demonstrate the intricacies involved in the business of operating a gallery.

The program culminates with the April Art Walk where the gallery exhibits the student art on their website and on their wall. All works of art are available for purchase, with proceeds from art sales going to the student artists and the LCAD Scholarship Fund.

The LPAPA Gallery is located at 414 N. Coast Highway, on Gallery Row between Jasmine and Myrtle, in Laguna Beach. Gallery hours are 11am to 5pm Thursday through Monday (available by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and before or after regular gallery hours). We are open extended hours, 6pm to 9pm, for Art Walk the First Thursday of each month.
