Monica Edwards: Slices of Life

The artwork of LPAPA Artist Member Monica Edwards is being showcased through the Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University in the exhibition “Monica Edwards: Slices of Life,” January 14th through May 2nd.

The exhibition includes a series of oil paintings by Edwards, all portraying the beauty of Orange County, including its beaches, canyons, cities and images of everyday life. The exhibition also includes her tribute to Chapman University: a painting of the university’s main entrance, Schmid Gate.

“I was commissioned to do a painting of Chapman’s Schmid Gate, and it turned out to be a splendid experience of painting while students walked past and chatted me up,” Edwards reflects. “I left this day filled with the most fabulous sense of hope for our next generation. The students were joyful, inquisitive, polite, intelligent and the most pleasant group of young adults I ever had the pleasure of meeting.

LPAPA Strong & Positive Postcard Art 2020

LPAPA Strong & Positive Postcard Art Auction was a unique online art auction to raise funds to help support LPAPA and its Artists in a fun and positive way. And, it was an opportunity for art lovers to do something positive and receive a special and unique piece of art with a positive message for their art collection.

109 Artists from around the country pledged to paint and personalize an original 5″ x 7″ LPAPA Strong & Positive Postcard that was created and mailed to the winning auction bidder.

Your support provided hope for all in a time of uncertainty and has helped keep the art community alive. Half of the proceeds was shared equally by the Artists and half helps sustain our nonprofit.

The auction began on May 5, 2020, as part of the #GivingTuesdayNow global day of giving that took place as an emergency response to the unprecedented needs caused by COVID-19. People showed their generosity and kindness in a variety of ways even while practicing physical distancing.

The LPAPA Strong & Positive Postcard Art Auction began May 5th and ended May 15th. Hashtag #LPAPAstrong was used to support of nonprofit LPAPA and its Artists.

Together we will get through this! Together we will keep LPAPA strong!

LPAPA presents its annual juried art shows at its “LPAPA in Residence” home at the Forest & Ocean Gallery in the heart of Laguna’s art district. Proceeds from the sale of artwork benefits the artists, the gallery and nonprofit LPAPA.

LPAPA’s mission is dedicated to painting the landscape, preserving Laguna’s artistic legacy and promoting the plein air painting tradition. LPAPA strives to enhance the livelihood of its artist members and inspire the next generation of plein air painters!
