May 2024 Artist Member of the Month: Mike Ishikawa of Palos Verdes Estates, California
Mike paints for the love and joy that painting gives him. He does not want painting to become a business, where selling your paintings become the sole purpose of your enjoyment, so Mike paints because he likes it. He sketches while on trips and has filled 20 sketch books, with pen and ink sketches. During the Covid lockdown, he complied many of his sketches into a, spiral bound travelog sketch book with over 300 sketches. He donates many paintings to charity, has staged art shows where profits go to charitable organizations and even sells some. He has won awards in many local and national art exhibitions and is a member of several art groups, including the Laguna Plein Air Painters.
