LPAPA Luv-a-Thon: Small Works, Big Hearts

January 29, 2018 by Toni Kellenberg

LPAPA Luv-a-Thon, Small Works, Big Hearts

Last spring, during the Plein Air Convention in San Diego, we invited our Signature and Artist Members to sketch and paint on a large canvas… as a result of their creative efforts and big hearts, 25 small paintings were created and offered in Opportunity Drawings on February 11, 2018 during the LPAPA Luv-a-Thon Fundraiser & Gallery Party:
LPAPA Luv-a-Thon Fundraiser: Small Works, Big Hearts!

Many thanks to all of the artists and art lovers who supported this fundraiser!

2018 Laguna Plein Air Invitational

January 1, 2018 by Toni Kellenberg

2017 Laguna Plein Air Best in Show, Before Sunrise by Aimee Erickson

2018 Laguna Plein Air Painting Invitational

2018 A Very Special Milestone

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and our Laguna Beach Community
will be celebrating a very special milestone this year.

The first Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational was presented in 1999.
This year we will present our 20th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational
at our new home located at the Festival of Arts in the heart of Laguna’s arts district!

100 years ago in 1918, the first Laguna Beach Art Association was established and
the first Art Gallery in Laguna Beach was opened by
early plein air artists that we know and celebrate, such as
Edgar Payne, William Wendt, Frank Cuprien, Anna Hills and many others.

LPAPA’s mission, as a nonprofit art organization, is dedicated to preserving
Laguna’s rich artistic legacy established by these early Plein Air Artists –
who we honor today with our mission and dedication to the
plein air painting tradition in Laguna Beach, across the nation, and around the world.

To honor these milestones in history, we have planned a unique and special celebration
for our 2018 Laguna Plein Air Painting Invitational will celebrate….

The Centennial History of Plein Air Painting in Laguna Beach
The history of LPAPA’s Plein Air Painting Invitational
19 years of Invitational Best in Show Award winning Artists
LPAPA’s five Founding Members
Signature Artist Members who have served on LPAPA’s Board
1999 artists who continue to support LPAPA today
Collectors’ Choice selected by LPAPA’s Advisory Board of Collectors
And, as is tradition,
The return of ten 2017 Invitational Artists
1st Place Award winning artist from our 14th Annual “Best of Plein Air” Show, and
The Grand Prize Award winning artist from our 2nd Annual “Waterworks” Show!

Join the celebration! Be part of the tradition!
