September 2022 Featured Artist: Ellen Schauer

September 1, 2022 by Bonnie Langner

September 2022 Featured Artist: Ellen Schauer at her easel

Ellen Schauer Artist Member of the Month

September 2022 Featured Artist Member of the Month: Ellen Schauer of Lake Elsinore, California

Ellen’s favorite part of being an artist is the challenge. She loves the continual process of problem-solving that comes from trying to convey her artistic expression. With a strong analytical background, that process comes as naturally to her as the movements of her hand, and keeps her tantalizingly engaged. Although inspired by the swishes and swirls of nature’s natural Fibonacci, Ellen finds it especially intriguing when man-made objects unintentionally mimic this elegant flow in light, shadow and reflection… as if trying to achieve balance where the spirit of nature would otherwise be broken. Ellen strives for a looser more impressionistic feel to her art while still trying to achieve the impression of realism. Toward that goal she continues to add the detail that attracts her collectors, yet with more free-spirited mark making.

LPAPA Receives FOA Foundation Grant

August 30, 2022 by Toni Kellenberg

LPAPA Receives FOA Foundation Grant image

Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) is incredibly grateful for the $2,500,00 grant received from The Festival of Arts (FOA) Foundation to supplement its education programs. This generous grant will be used to continue to develope LPAPA’s Plein Air Project™ which includes programs for the Younger Generation and the Laguna Invitational Kids Paint Out.

These much needed funds will help LPAPA offset the cost of supplies for the art classes and paint outs. The Plein Air Project “Kids Paint Out” will once again be presented during LPAPA’s 24th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational taking place October 1-9, and is intended to inspire our next generation of plein air painters.
