Nationally recognized artist Carolyn Hesse-Low graduated from University of California and continued her training at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. In the style of the early California Impressionists, her landscapes, figures and marine subjects capture the changing mood and rugged beauty of what she sees. “I am attracted to the feeling that a scene offers. What appeals to me is a subject that has depth to explore, one that can reveal the feelings within ourselves”.

“With every painting I attempt to tell a story. Mood and atmosphere are paramount to creating a great painting. I strive to communicate these elements to the viewer, in a visual language. I ask myself this question, ‘What must I do to cause someone to walk across the room to view my painting and then assure that they are not disappointed once they arrive?'”. — Tom Brown

Keiko was born in Kyoto, Japan.  As a child growing up in an art-loving family, she always enjoyed drawing and painting and won many awards in children’s art contests.  However, art was not her chosen field of study later on.  She earned a B.A. in intercultural communication (International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan) and an M.A. in international education (UCLA, California).  She then worked in international relations positions in a Japanese government trade organization in Tokyo, at a large law firm in San Francisco and at a private consulting firm in San Diego.  For decades, she has traveled extensively, mainly in European countries, Asia and North America.
