“Plein Air Painting is the catalyst that motivated me to paint again. For me, it’s meeting the challenge of the quick decision of color and brushstroke. Not to over-think, but to be deliberate, fresh, and spontaneous in my approach. I want to convey that unspoken energy into every painting to tell my story”    –Anthony Salvo

“I have always been intrigued by watercolor as an art form, and how it captures light, unlike any other medium. For several years, my focus was on digital art, but in 2013, I focused my painting using watercolor as a medium. My subjects are based on the places I have visited in Iowa and throughout the United States and world.  My architectural background leads me towards painting architectural subjects, but I find interesting subjects in the landscape around me. I travel the countryside of Iowa and find the rural landscapes, small town and city structures, and the industrial areas of the rivers to be compelling.”    –Michael Broshar

“Of the many contemporary plein air artist that I know, Valerie Collymore is the most devoted proponent of true French Impressionism. Her work idealizes the theme of everyday, ordinary scenes while benefiting from such techniques and approaches as broken color, loose, choppy brushstroke, and most importantly, a true and convincing effect of fluid, natural sunlight.  She would be right at home next to works by Monet, Sisley, and Pissarro.”
