Thursday Oct 8th: Next Generation Paint out

July 18, 2026 by Toni Kellenberg

LPAPA Invitational Next Gen LCAD Student

Laguna Plein Air Invitational Next Generation EventNext Generation Paint Out

Thursday, October 8th, 2026  |  Heisler Park

What happens when you pair the next generation of artistic talent with world-class mentors in one of California’s most beautiful landscapes?

LPAPA’s Next Generation Paint Out brings registered students from the Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD) to the bluffs of Heisler Park for a high-intensity day of outdoor painting. Co-led by professional mentor artists Mason Williams and Kelley Mogilka, this program provides a vital bridge between art school and a thriving professional career.

The Opportunities:

  • Scholarships: Student works are juried by a professional panel, with top artists receiving cash scholarship awards.

  • The Big Stage: Award-winning student painters earn an exclusive invitation to showcase and sell their work at the premier Collectors Art Party on Saturday, October 10th.

  • Art with Purpose: Every painting sold directly supports the student artist and feeds back into funding LPAPA’s educational outreach.

Preserving a Historic Legacy > This event is a vital component of LPAPA’s year-round Plein Air Project. By investing in these young creators, we protect and celebrate the rich, century-old artistic heritage of the Laguna Beach art colony while inspiring the next generation to carry on the legacy.

Visit the Student Exhibition at the LPAPA Gallery, October 15th – November 30th
Join Us at the LPAPA Gallery for our Art Walk Reception, Thursday November 5th, 6-9PM
Location: 414 N. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach
Gallery Hours: Thursday through Monday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (and by appointment; First Thursdays 1PM-9PM)

2026 Future Generation Laguna Plein Air Invitational Paint Out

Future Generation Invitational Paint Out

Monday, October 5th, 2026 | Heisler Park

Keeping a century-old art legacy alive starts with inspiring our youth. On Monday, October 5th, LPAPA is bringing the Laguna Beach Unified School District out to the bluffs of Heisler Park for our annual Future Generation Paint Out.

The Event Experience

Selected local students from grades 4–12 will be paired side-by-side with LPAPA’s 2026 Invitational Mentor Artists:  David Allen, Denise Bradley (Program Co-Lead), Denise Busony, Toni Danchik, Gia Moody, Debbie Morines (Program Co-Lead), BJ Morrison McKay, Hans Quinonez, Pamme Turner, and Fay Wyles. Students will observe live professional painting demonstrations and receive direct mentoring to create their own coastal masterpieces.

The Gallery Showcase & Fundraiser

  • Where: The LPAPA Gallery | 414 N. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach

  • When: Thursday, October 15 – Monday, November 30, 2026 (Art Walk Reception Thursday November 5th)

  • The Impact: The public is invited to view the show and acquire a student painting for a suggested donation of $50. Every dollar raised goes directly back to the student’s local school to support youth arts programming.

Keeping it Free for Kids!

Because of the incredible support LPAPA receives from the Festival of Arts Foundation, the City of Laguna Beach, the Monica Edwards Memorial Fund, our dedicated sponsors, donors, and volunteer mentors, every student receives a high-quality painting kit to take home at zero cost to their families.
