Signature Showcase at the LPAPA Gallery

4th Annual Signature Showcase 2025

The LPAPA Gallery is pleased to present its 4th Annual “Signature Showcase” gallery exhibition featuring original plein air and studio works created by LPAPA Signature Artist Members. The show can be seen online beginning January 6, 2025, and at the LPAPA Gallery beginning Thursday January 9, 2025 through Monday March 3, 2025.

The show will open online Monday January 6th at 10:00 am PST with an online Virtual Gallery Art Catalog and Preview Silent Auction that will end at 8:00 pm PST on Thursday January 9th. LPAPA is hosting a Gallery Reception on Thursday January 9th, 6:00-9:00 pm, open to the public with free entry, to celebrate the show opening.

2024 Award Winners:

3 cash awards categories — Signature Members, Artists Members, & Student Members (award winners were announced during the art walk reception on December 5th at 7pm).

The Online Preview Auction referenced above will open at 80% of the full retail price for the painting with $10 bid increments. The preview auction includes a “buy now” option at the full retail price. Unless other arrangements are made through LPAPA, paintings sold through the Auction and through the Gallery will be shipped or available for pick up after the gallery show ends. Paintings sold through the expanded online show of semi-finalist paintings will be shipped by the artist.

2024 Hotel Laguna Painting Competition Award Winners

LPAPA artists participated in the 2nd Annual Hotel Laguna Painting Competition sponsored by the Hotel Laguna! From the Artist’s submissions, the top 8 scoring finalists were juried to be judged for Awards and exhibited for sale at the Hotel Laguna on October 3rd for Art Start for First Thursday Art Walk in the Rose Garden plaza! Everyone was invited to join LPAPA at the Hotel Laguna for a fabulous Art Start reception with free entry 5-6 pm!

In addition to the exhibition of the LPAPA Awards Finalists, guests enjoyed a performance by the Laguna Dance Festival during Art Walk.

The LPAPA Gallery is open with extended hours to 9PM for the First Thursday Art Walk of each month, so plan to visit us!

LPAPA is proud to present “John Cosby: A Journey in Art” at the Rivian South Coast Theater on Wednesday July 17th, 6:30-8:30pm. This will be the first public screening of an extended version of the short documentary film that John has been working on. Q&As with John will follow the screening.

John Cosby is one of the original Founding Members of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization originally founded in Laguna Beach in 1996. LPAPA Signature Artist Aimee Erickson will lead a “Signature Artist in Residence” Laguna Plein Air Painting Workshop Sunday evening through Friday morning, July 21 – 26, 2024. This is a great opportunity to learn more about painting outdoors, get tips for adding inspiration to help kick-start or take your work to the next level, and growing as an artist! If the workshop is showing full when you attempt to register, be sure to click to add your name to the waitlist!

This is a 5-day workshop taught over a 6 day period (two 1/2 days and 4 full days). The morning painting sessions (July 22 through 26) are 8:30 am to noon and the evening lecture/critique sessions (July 21st through 25) are 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm each day; there will be a no host class dinner followed by nocturne painting on July 24th). All painting experience levels are welcome, beginner to professional, however, having some experience is recommended. This workshop will include talks, demonstrations, lots of one-on-one instruction, critiques and painting on location at outdoor Laguna and nearby locations. Students must provide their own art supplies, meals, and transportation to and from painting sites, as well as pay parking fees. Maximum of 16 students (if full, be sure to click to add name to waitlist!).

Plan to join us for a special LPAPA Gallery “Plein Talk”, Painting Demonstration & Book Signing with Aimee Erickson on Sunday July 21st, 5:30-7:30 pm; students will meet at 5:00 pm with Plein Talk registration included in the workshop fee.

If you need to cancel, a full refund will be issued if LPAPA receives your cancellation more than 60 days prior to the start of the class (on or before 5:00 pm Monday May 20, 2024). If you cancel within 60 days of the start of the class (on or after May 21, 2024, and no later than June 20, 2024), you will receive a refund of your tuition LESS LPAPA’s $100 cancellation processing fee UNLESS someone on the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within 4 weeks of the start date (on or after June 21, 2024), you forfeit your entire tuition UNLESS the workshop is full and someone from the waiting list fills your spot in the class in which case you will receive a full refund.
