May 2023 Featured Artist Member: Terry Miura

by

May 2023 Artist Member of the Month: Terry Miura of Fair Oaks, California

Miura’s evocative tonalist landscapes explore the relationship between memory, emotions, and identity. “Although they’re still very much representational,” says Miura, “they’re not about specific locations. Well, actually they are, but the locations are found in my and the viewer’s memories. Not out there in the physical world. ”

Aaron Schuerr: Backcountry Plein Talk, April 24

by

The Backcountry Adventures of a Lonely Artist
LPAPA Plein Talk with Aaron Schuerr
Monday, April 27, 2023, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
.
What would possess an artist to pack his painting gear and trek alone across The Grand Canyon? Or paint his way across The Beartooth Mountains? What’s the point of setting up camp at over 10,000 feet to paint the same peak over and over again? Is it madness? Is it worth the trouble?

For years Montana artist Aaron Schuerr has embarked on solo painting treks deep into the wilderness areas of the west. Along his search for the perfect landscape, he’s dealt with extremes in weather, dangerous wildlife, and the challenge of keeping paint off his backpacking gear.

The LPAPA Gallery is proud to present a special “Artist in Residence” Plein Talk presentation with LPAPA Signature Artist Aaron Schuerr on Monday April 24th, 6-8pm. Aaron will share a PowerPoint presentation of his backcountry adventures, the paintings they’ve inspired, and he’ll reveal his most frightening wildlife encounter. (It wasn’t the grizzly bear!).

April 2023 Artist Member of the Month: Erich Neubert of Dana Point, California

Erich has been an artist since childhood.  In 1996 he graduated with a  Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design from Cal State Fullerton, upon which he promptly went into a career of computers.  After many years, and one too many meetings, he decided to follow his passion and pursue his art career.  After taking a plein air class, he was hooked on painting California Impressionism and hasn’t looked back, well sort of. After a stint in business doing OnlineJuriedShows.com, Erich has returned to his full time passion of trying to be a full time artist.
