by

LPAPA Signature Artist of the Month for July 2023, Judd Mercer

July 2023 Signature Artist of the Month:  Judd Mercer of Englewood, Colorado

“Plein air is like meditation. You have to slow down, pay attention. When you feel a place with all your senses, take your shoes off and touch the grass, smell the wind, you get a true sense of it. You realize how amazing just being in the world is. All I’m trying to do is capture a piece of it.” –Judd Mercer

July 2023 Featured Artist Member: Liz Abeyta

LPAPA Artist of the Month for July 2023, Liz Abeyta

July 2023 Artist Member of the Month: Liz Abeyta of San Diego, California

”I love the constant challenges of painting on location as it forces me to pare down grand vistas or detailed scenes to the bare essentials. It is a delicate balance to provide just enough so that the painting is understood by the viewer, while leaving suggested features to the imagination. I strive to be efficient with brushstrokes yet still capture my feelings about the location. We’ve all heard “Variety is the spice of life.” Variety also adds spice to a painting: light played against shadow, hard crisp edges versus soft lost ones, thick paint confidently laid against a thin wash, and warm yellows and reds alongside cool blues and greens. These contrasts can really make a painting sing.” –Liz Abeyta

June 2023 Featured Signature Artist: Richard Lindenberg

by

LPAPA Featured Signature Artist of the Month of June 2023

June 2023 Signature Artist Member of the Month:  Richard Lindenberg of Novato, California

“Painting is a friend that always brings me great joy and peace.  I paint primarily because it constantly allows me to open my heart.  The little moments looking out a car window at an extraordinary sight, or seeing the way a strip of late afternoon light streaks across the meadow.  If my paintings can allow the viewer access into a world that is always present, but often taken for granted… then I have contributed something.”

by

Featured Signature Artist for May 2023, Lisa Mozzini-McDill

May 2023 Signature Artist Member of the Month:  Lisa Mozzini-McDill of Lake Elsinore, CA

“Creating artwork that is realistic but loose, expressive as well as meaningful is an ongoing endeavor. What I think about when painting is emphasizing an exciting play of light and shadow, an interesting composition, and enhancing a scene that evokes a deeper meaning or emotion in me. It is my intent that this depth and emotion I feel will also be communicated and resonates with the viewer.” — Lisa Mozzini-McDill
