LPAPA is pleased to present a 3-day “Figure & Seascape” Laguna Plein Air Painting Workshop with Jove Wang, Monday December 9th through Wednesday December 11th, 2024.

Join Jove Wang, award-winning oil painter and LPAPA Signature Artist, for a plein air painting workshop designed with the artistic feeling of Master Joaquin Sorolla’s figure and landscape paintings. Jove will do painting demonstrations and walk you through his painting process for creating exciting compositions and brushwork, and work with you at your easel.

Class meets from 9am-4pm each day, with a 1-hour lunch break. All levels welcome, beginner to professional. This workshop includes painting on location, lectures, demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, and critiques. Jove will demonstrate his painting techniques and students have the opportunity to paint several studies in this intensive, 3-day class. Students must provide their own art supplies, meals, and transportation to and from painting sites. Maximum of 15 students, minimum of 10.

Ray will lead a 3-day “Signature Artist in Residence” Laguna Plein Air Painting Workshop Friday through Sunday, November 3, 4 and 5, 2023. This outdoor painting workshop will focus on painting the landscape on location in Laguna Beach and surrounding areas. Ray will walk you through his process for creating exciting, expressive paintings.

In addition, the LPAPA Gallery is proud to present a special “Artist in Residence” Solo Exhibition featuring major works created by Ray Roberts for the LPAPA Gallery premiere. The Exhibition will open Thursday November 2nd with a special First Thursdays Art Walk Reception, and continue through Monday December 4, 2023.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about painting outdoors, get tips for adding inspiration to help kick-start your work or take it to the next level!

Ready to take your pastel or oil painting skills to the next level? Want to improve your on location painting results? Need some inspiration and techniques to kick-start your work? This class is for you!

Get ready to explore the California coast with award-winning LPAPA Signature Artist Aaron Schuerr. Let Aaron help you find “the story” in the landscape and paint it in a way that is direct, simple, fresh, and honest.

Aaron will give daily painting demonstrations and you will engage in fun painting exercises designed to focus on value, color, and shape. From that foundation, you’ll explore edges, atmospheric perspective, color and shape relationships, composition, and mood. Most importantly you’ll learn to paint with greater intention.

Through demonstrations, group discussions, composition walks, painting exercises, and plenty of individual instruction, you will learn to approach coastal motifs with enthusiasm and confidence. This workshop is open to oil and pastel painters. Aaron easily flows back and forth between the mediums.

LPAPA is pleased to host a 3-day “Signature Artist in Residence” Plein Air Painting workshop in Laguna Beach with Signature Artist Suzie Baker, Wednesday October 18th through Friday October 20th, 2023.

What do you get when you take a workshop with Suzie? You will experience a fun-filled, guided, hands-on learning experience. Students receive instruction on principles of painting ranging from drawing, color, value, composition, color theory, and SO MUCH MORE. Every day you will apply what is being taught by getting outside to paint. You will see field demos and receive one-on-one instruction at your easel through the workshop.

Suzie’s painting demonstrations will be with oils, however, this workshop is also open to acrylic painters who can benefit from many of the same painting principles.
