The LPAPA Gallery proudly presents “For the Love of the Sea”, a Juried Art Show featuring original works created by LPAPA Artists inspired by historical Laguna Beach Artist Frank Cuprien’s love of the sea. This juried gallery show will be presented in collaboration with the Laguna Art Museum‘s exhibition: “Frank Cuprien: For the Love of the Sea”, celebrating the legacy of Frank Cuprien (click the highlighted link to learn more about Cuprien).

  • Laguna Art Museum Exhibition Opening: Saturday, March 21, 2026
  • Online Launch & Preview Auction: Monday, March 30, 2026
  • Gallery Opening: Thursday, April 2, 2026, 1PM
  • Public Reception (Art Walk): Thursday, April 2, 2026, 6-9PM (Awards Announced at 7PM)
  • Plein Air Prospectives at the Laguna Art Museum: Thursday, April 16th, 6PM 
  • Gallery Show Closes: Monday, May 4, 2026
  • Laguna Art Museum Exhibit Closes: September 7, 2026

Supporting Artistry and Legacy: LPAPA is proud to support the Laguna Art Museum in bringing attention to and celebrating Cuprien’s legacy. LPAPA encourages you to plan to visit the Laguna Art Museum for this “must see” exhibition, March 21 to September 7, 2026. Through the sale of artwork in the LPAPA Gallery juried show, you directly benefit the participating artist and empower nonprofit LPAPA to fulfill its mission. LPAPA is committed to painting the landscape, preserving Laguna’s century-old artistic legacy, and enhancing the livelihoods of its artist members. We strive to inspire the next and future generations of plein air painters to carry this tradition forward!

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna NiguelLPAPA is pleased to present LPAPA Signature Artist Debra Huse as the Award-Winning “Artist in Residence” at  The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, Friday April 3rd to Sunday April 5th. Debra will be exhibiting her artwork and painting on site based on the schedule detailed below (access to the events are available for both resort guests and visitors to enjoy).

We’re looking forward to featuring Debra Huse as the 2026 LPAPA Artist in Residence and hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to visit The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, at One Ritz Carlton Drive, Dana Point, California, to meet Debra, ask questions, and enjoy her painting demonstrations and art. Paid valet parking is available at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel; paid parking is also available at the adjacent Salt Creek Beach parking lot..

Proceeds generated through the sale of the exhibition art work benefits the Artist and nonprofit Laguna Plein Air Painters Association’s Mission to preserve and promote the century-old Laguna plein air painting tradition, and supports LPAPA’s “Plein Air Project” Youth Education Program.

March 2026 Featured Artist : Anthony Salvo of Costa Mesa, California

Anthony combines the color sense, composition and esthetic qualities acquired from years of design experience into his newly found love of painting “en plein air.”  Plein Air painting has given Anthony the enthusiasm to spend much more time, thought and consideration on the ordinary beautiful day or object that life puts in front of him — and passionately portray them on canvas.  When he is not painting “en plein air”, you can find him in his studio, painting delectable – foodie still life creations, and vintage trucks and cars.

“Catching the light while painting – I want to be deliberate, fresh and spontaneous in my approach – to convey that unspoken energy into every painting, telling my story – letting the viewer write the words, documenting the ever-changing landscape”–Anthony Salvo

David Allen, LPAPA Gallery Featured Artist of the Month for March 2026

March 2026 Featured Artist : David Allen of Orange, California

Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, David found positive influences early in life. Encouragement from teachers, colleagues, and family inspired him to pursue his passion for art.After moving to Southern California, he had the opportunity to work for a graphics and printing company, which rekindled his strong interest in the arts. David began studying plein air painting through workshops with Debra Huse, Kenn Backhaus, Jim Woodark, and other accomplished landscape painters.He later founded his own company, Postcards & Cards Unlimited, featuring his original photography. His entrepreneurial pursuits renewed both his interest and his desire to return to painting. David enjoys volunteering with art organizations, galleries, and special events. He is currently the Gallery Manager at the LPAPA Gallery.
