Majoring in Fine Arts, in a painting class, he began to work with color for the first time. Jensen realized that his life-long, drawing background had set a great foundation for him as a painter.  But it was his “deep down” desire to paint, rooted in family life experiences, that surfaced in the remembered words of his father: words about the importance of warm and cool light and broad brushwork. Now, the first things people notice about Ryan Jensen’s paintings are the way he handles light and his brushwork.

Bringing Order to a Riot of Colors

by

LPAPA Signature Artist Robin PurcellFor a few weeks each spring, LPAPA Signature Artist Robin Purcell takes advantage of the opportunity when Mother Nature transforms the rolling hills of California’s North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. With nearly 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus blooms, the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch have helped usher in the season for more than 60 years.

Founding Members Show, August 16 – September 6

by

We are currently featuring works by LPAPA’s Founding Members: Ken Auster, Jacobus Baas, Cynthia Britain, Saim Caglayan, and John Cosby, now through Monday, September 6th.

LPAPA’s new gallery home is open for business Thursday through Monday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The gallery is located in the historic El Paseo at 414 North Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, on Gallery Row between Jasmine and Myrtle (there’s even a Trolley Stop on the corner of PCH & Jasmine!).

LPAPA’s gallery is made possible through the support of our Members, Gallery Patrons, and Collectors. The sale of artwork supports the artists and nonprofit LPAPA, and helps further LPAPA’s mission to preserve Laguna’s century-old plein air artistic legacy, promote the plein air painting tradition, and connect outdoor painters from around the world with Laguna’s artistic heritage! We hope you will plan to visit the gallery, join LPAPA as an artist or supporter, and help us assure that plein air painting — past, present, and future — will remain in our Community’s heart for centuries to come! When you join LPAPA, you become part of the Laguna Plein Air legacy and tradition!

Gallery hours will be Thursday through Monday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are available by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and alternative hours. Please feel free to contact us by email at info@lpapa.org or by phone at (949) 376-3635.

Thank you for being part of the Laguna Plein Air Painting tradition!
