May 2022 Signature Artist Member of the Month: Scott W. Prior of Oceanside, California

Scott W. Prior is an award winning oil painter and Southern California native. He received his BFA from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA where he studied under the exceptional artists Craig Nelson, Bill Maughan and Hui Han Lui. During his time at the Academy Scott established his skills in design, drawing and painting, giving him a solid foundation with which to develop his own unique, artistic style. Scott draws inspiration from the beauty in ordinary, everyday scenes.

May 2022 Featured Artist Member of the Month: Victoria Huff of El Segundo, California

Born and raised in Southern California Victoria fell in love with the outdoors. Memories of hiking, camping in the mountains, deserts and beaches of California remain imprinted in her mind. She found her passion while earning her Bachelors of Fine Art in Illustration at California State University, Long Beach. While attending art school Victoria developed a broad visual vocabulary and was exposed to a wide spectrum of ideas. It was not until she applied these fundamentals with the adventure of the outdoors that she truly learned to paint. Her paintings depict the places she loves and are deeply connected to her experiences there. Many pieces are created outdoors on location or studies are brought back to the studio for her to expand on. She finds herself captivated by the ebb and flow of the ocean, the stretching shadows and the golden sunlight that California has to offer. Victoria currently lives in Los Angeles as a full-time artist and continues developing her work.

The LPAPA Gallery is located at 414 N. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, California. Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday, 11AM to 5PM (First Thursday Art Walk gallery reception 6PM to 9PM), and available by appointment.

The Online Preview Auction referenced above will open at 80% of the full retail price for the painting with $10 bid increments. The preview auction includes a “buy now” option at the full retail price. Unless other arrangements are made through LPAPA, paintings sold through the Auction and through the Gallery will be shipped or available for pick up after the gallery show ends. Paintings sold through the expanded online exhibition of the semi-finalist paintings will be shipped by the artist.

Proceeds generated through the sale of artwork benefit the participating artists and nonprofit Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA). LPAPA’s mission is dedicated to painting the landscape, preserving Laguna’s artistic legacy, and promoting the plein air painting tradition. LPAPA strives to enhance the livelihood of its artist members through education and opportunity, and inspire the next generation of plein air painters to continue the tradition!

California Missions in Oil by Saim Caglayan

LPAPA Founder & Signature Artist Saim Caglayan has an exhibition opening at the Mission San Juan Capistrano featuring “California Missions in Oil”. The exhibit will feature approximately 20 paintings showcasing the work of Saim Caglayan, capturing the current day aesthetic of California’s most renown missions. All artwork on display will be available for purchase. The exhibit dates are May 3rd to July 10, 2022.
