Visit the LPAPA Gallery for this special “Artist in Residence” showcase exhibition by LPAPA Signature Artists Rick J. Delanty and Shuang Li, April 7th through May 2nd, 2022. “Making a Splash!” features paintings created using acrylics by Rick J. Delanty and using watercolors by Shuang Li, demonstrating the beauty, as well as the differences and similarities, of these two water-based mediums.

The LPAPA Gallery is located at 414 N. Coast Highway, on Gallery Row between Jasmine and Myrtle, in Laguna Beach. Gallery hours are 11am to 5pm Thursday through Monday (available by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and before or after regular gallery hours). We are open extended hours, 6pm to 9pm, for Art Walk the First Thursday of each month.

The LPAPA gallery is pleased to present a special exhibition featuring LCAD Student Amber Jodoin. Enjoy a preview of her work below and plan to join us for the First Thursday Art Walk Opening Reception, April 7th – 6 to 9 pm, to meet the artist and see a sampling of her available work through the LPAPA Gallery.
This special exhibition is presented in collaboration with the 21st Annual Professional Gallery + Student Mentoring Program, a collaboration between First Thursdays Art Walk (FTAW) and Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD) that pairs senior students in the Fine Arts Professional Studies class with FTAW’s member galleries. The program is designed to demonstrate the intricacies involved in the business of operating a gallery.

The program culminates with the April Art Walk where the gallery exhibits the student art on their website and on their wall. All works of art are available for purchase, with proceeds from art sales going to the student artists and the LCAD Scholarship Fund.

“I prefer to paint directly from nature and I love being outdoors where I can see, hear, feel, smell and even taste the scene around me. For me, the painting is a translation of nature and my experience of it. If I am successful, I take the viewer with me to feel the moment.  I believe good painting is not a slavish copy of visual details, but an emotional response to a moment in nature.”  –Jeff Horn

April 2022 Featured Artist Member of the Month: Lisa Mansour of Laguna Beach, California

Blending traditional technique with exuberant expression, artist Lisa Mansour loves exploring the playful side of fine art. Whether completing detailed studio work or painting studies en plein air, Lisa enjoys focusing the fullness of her attention in the moment. Classically trained, Lisa received her Post-Baccalaureate degree from Laguna College of Art + Design. Her artwork can be found year round at Quorum Gallery and in the summer at the Sawdust Art Festival. This year marks Lisa’s 22nd in Laguna Beach where she lives and paints.

Award Winners: (award winners to be announced on March 3, 2022). The 1st Place award-winning artist will receive, in addition to a $1,000 top cash prize, a coveted “golden ticket” invitation to participate in LPAPA’s 24th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational, October 1 – 9, 2022.

The LPAPA Gallery is located at 414 N. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, California. Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday, 11AM to 5PM (First Thursday Art Walk gallery reception 6PM to 9PM).

The Online Preview Auction referenced above will open at 80% of the full retail price for the painting with $10 bid increments. The preview auction includes a “buy now” option at the full retail price. Unless other arrangements are made through LPAPA, paintings sold through the Auction and through the Gallery will be shipped or available for pick up after the gallery show ends. Paintings sold through the expanded online exhibition of the semi-finalist paintings will be shipped by the artist.

Proceeds generated through the sale of artwork benefit the participating artists and nonprofit Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA). LPAPA’s mission is dedicated to painting the landscape, preserving Laguna’s artistic legacy, and promoting the plein air painting tradition. LPAPA strives to enhance the livelihood of its artist members through education and opportunity, and inspire the next generation of plein air painters to continue the tradition!
