LPAPA’s 20th Annual “Best of Plein Air” Juried Art Show
A celebration of paintings by LPAPA Members created outdoors “en plein aire”!

Online Art Catalog Exhibition (Finalists & Top Semi-Finalists): March 4th thru April 1st
Online Preview Auction: Opens 10AM Monday, March 4th, ends 8PM Thursday, March 7th
LPAPA Gallery Show (Finalists): Opens 11AM Thursday, March 7th thru Monday, April 1st
Art Walk Gallery Reception & Awards: Thursday, March 7, 2024, 6PM – 9PM (awards 7PM)*
*Gallery awards presentation will be live-streamed on Facebook

Award winners were announced during the March 7, 2024 Art Walk Gallery Reception. The 1st Place award-winning artist also receives a coveted “golden ticket” invitation to participate in LPAPA’s 26th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational, October 5 – 13, 2024.

LPAPA is proud to present its Juried Art Shows, Signature Showcase Exhibitions, Signature Artist in Residence Exhibitions, and Featured Members at our beautiful gallery located on Gallery Row in Laguna Beach, California. Plan to visit us!

February 2024 Featured Signature Artist: Barbara Tapp

February 2024 Signature Artist of the Month: Barbara Tapp of Kensington, California

Australian born, Barbara graduated in Interior Design, for two years Zoo exhibit designer,18months Europe and USA travel, 1980 moved to San Francisco,1983 -2012 Illustrator for Karen Brown Travel Guides, Sunset Magazine and The Academy of Sciences, 38 years architectural illustrator and graphic designer for developers and real estate industry. 2014, 2016 watercolor exhibitions in Australia. In 2013 Barbara began painting watercolors outdoors. Barbara currently participates in plein air events, watercolor competitions, gives demonstrations and presentations as well as paints weekly outdoors.

February 2024 Featured Artist Member: Marilyn Wear

February 2024 Artist Member of the Month: Marilyn Wear of Turlock, California

Marilyn was born in San Francisco and attended California’s San Jose State University, receiving a B.A. in Graphic Design in 1974. After working as an advertising Artist for several years, She changed careers in 2003 to pursue her dream of becoming a full time professional fine artist, painting her favorite subjects, wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Although she also paints with oil and acrylic, her favorite medium is transparent watercolor, where she uses a technique of layering many glazes of watercolor to attain richness and depth while retaining a glowing vibrancy. Her style is realistic with an emphasis on capturing the light, color and mood of her chosen subject.
