April 2025 Featured Artist: Fay Wyles

March 31, 2025 by Bonnie Langner

April 2025 Featured Artist: Fay Wyles

April 2025 Featured Artist : Fay Wyles of San Clemente, California

Fay’s creative process is rooted in plein air painting, where she captures field studies and color notes from the seascapes and landscapes that inspire her. Working outdoors allows her to immerse herself fully in the scene, translating the natural light, atmosphere, and mood directly onto canvas. These smaller, spontaneous studies provide the foundation for her larger studio works, where she refines and amplifies the initial inspiration into powerful compositions. This balance between plein air exploration and studio refinement gives her art a dynamic energy, capturing both the raw beauty of the moment and a deeper, more considered interpretation.

February 2025 Featured Artist: Amanda Fish

February 6, 2025 by Bonnie Langner

LPAPA Artist Amanda Fish

LPAPA's Featured Artist of the Month February 2025,Amanda Fish

February 2025 Artist Member of the Month: Amanda Fish of Costa Mesa, California

Amanda enjoys creating still life paintings that have traditional look, but with a fresh painterly feel and delicate application. She retains a realistic yet lyrical quality by painting thin layers of transparent color. She follows the light with graceful movements allowing the viewer to wander and notice the nuances. She composes all of her still lifes, adding personal objects collected over many years with fruits and flowers. She likens her compositions as visual vignettes. luminescence.

“I am constantly inspired by the visual richness of objects. It’s about movement, elegance andI want to interpret the grace and beauty I see when bringing a variety of items together.”

January 2025 Featured Artist Member: Hans Quinonez

January 2025 Artist Member of the Month: Hans Quinonez of Huntington Beach, California

Hans Quiñonez is a representational artist who works primarily in oil.  He was born in California and was pulled toward the arts from an early age. During middle school he learned the fundamentals of oil painting at Bergeron Art School in Huntington Beach. He continued drawing and painting for fun and the enjoyment of getting lost and absorbed in the creative process.  Although he often seeks quiet places in the world around him, he enjoys the fun and camaraderie of sharing the artistic process. “I see painting as a shared experience. I hope my paintings connect with others and reveal the experiences that inspire that journey through a vocabulary of light and color.”–Hans Quinonez

August 2024 Featured Artist Member: Kirsten Anderson

Kirsten Anderson, August 2024 Featured Artist member at LPAPA Gallery and online

August 2024 Artist Member of the Month: Kirsten Anderson of Long Beach, California

“Raised in California, she has traveled with her palette and sketchbook on 6 continents and her paintings are a personal diary of her travels. “I have a wanderlust spirit  that fits perfectly with an outdoor painter.”  Kirsten ‘s favorite subjects are found along the coast, on the water, or in the water. “Sunlit figures, the ocean, the beach are especially inspiring. I love the sun hitting bodies—it’s like painting nudes, but with bikinis.  And I like to paint boats.”  Painting is an endless pursuit that touches my soul.  My painting process always involves observing nature, providing me a stepping off point between realism, naturalism and abstraction.  I prefer abstract areas and painterly textures and surprises in color palette and value.  I want my painting to be better than the photograph or scene I am attempting to portray.”
