April 2024 Signature Artist of the Month: Michael Situ of Irvine, California

Michael is a contemporary artist of America Impressionism style. He is known for his vivid, luminous and richly colored landscape of coast, mountain and various scenes that capture his imagination. Powerful compositions, strong brushwork, a gorgeous sense of color all come together in perfect harmony, marking him is a master of plein air painter. At an early age he begins to interest drawing and painting, going up in China where he studied at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art, Situ developed a deep appreciation for nature and passion for art.

March 2024 Signature Artist of the Month: Camille Przewodek of Petaluma, California

Camille is an acknowledged authority on color who regularly serves as an entry and awards judge for various painting competitions and events. She is also a much sought after instructor who annually teaches painting workshops across the country, and offers regular weekly classes close to home at her studio in Northern California. She has been a regularly featured, on-stage demonstrator at Plein Air Magazine’s Annual Plein Air Convention, as well as an invited instructor, lecturer, and panelist on the Hensche-Hawthorne approach to seeing and painting color at American Artist Magazine’s Weekend with the Masters. Przewodek is a Master Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and the Oil Painters of America.

March 2024 Artist Member of the Month: Dawn Buckingham of Orange, California

Dawn Buckingham follows the tradition of American Impressionism by immersing herself in the natural landscape, as a plein air artist, in order to capture the light, color and mood of the area. The need to work quickly in the changing light is reflected in the energy of her mark marking and subtle layers of pigment. Plein air paintings inform her studio practice in both oil and soft pastel. Dawn feels that becoming an artist has given her the gift of seeing and experiencing the world in a new and enhanced way. She believes that the arts have a major role to play as a tool for raising awareness of the effects of global warming and the consequences of human activity on our planet. “My growth as an artist is a journey of personal expression, appreciating moments in time, and sharing my joy of painting with others through teaching.” — Dawn Buckingham

February 2024 Signature Artist of the Month: Barbara Tapp of Kensington, California

Australian born, Barbara graduated in Interior Design, for two years Zoo exhibit designer,18months Europe and USA travel, 1980 moved to San Francisco,1983 -2012 Illustrator for Karen Brown Travel Guides, Sunset Magazine and The Academy of Sciences, 38 years architectural illustrator and graphic designer for developers and real estate industry. 2014, 2016 watercolor exhibitions in Australia. In 2013 Barbara began painting watercolors outdoors. Barbara currently participates in plein air events, watercolor competitions, gives demonstrations and presentations as well as paints weekly outdoors.
